THAILAND LAUNCHES INTERNATIONAL JEWELRY DESIGN AWARDS OFFER TO TRANSFORM DREAM INTO A FASHION FOREFRONT

Having a bright idea, vision and concept on how a beautiful piece of jewelry should look like but facing restrictions to let them seen and appreciated by the world?
Look no further. The Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA) is opening up a gate of opportunity for talented and spirited jewelry designers, both amateurs and professionals, to show off their flair to the world.
Thailand International Jewelry Awards (TIJA) 2009 offers a chance for local and international designers to garner an international recognition in a major competition.
TIJA also provides an opportunity for talents to transform their dream designs on sketch into tangible finished products, courtesy of Thailand's top-notched manufacturers.
"With Thailand's stature a leading jewelry design center, we think we are qualified to contribute more to the advancement of jewelry design by providing a venue and necessary mechanisms to support that drive," said Somchai Phornchindarak, CEO of BGJF.
Aside from winning handsome prizes and honour, winning designers will have their works displayed at the next BGJF's 43rd edition scheduled on February 25 and March 1, 2009.
Furthermore, the award-winning pieces along with those passing the semi-final contest would go on an international tour, being showcased at world's major trade shows.
"Creative of the World" was chosen as the theme of the first TIJA competition which falls into two categories - "day time" (for day time wearing) and "executive" (for evening wearing). A total of 60 pieces, split equally between the two categories, will be chosen.
The deadline for submission, by e-mailing design@tija2009.com, is November 5, 2008.
The designs will be judged by an expert panel including members representing local and international industry organizations. Winners will be formally announced and awarded at the 43rd BGJF's Award Party.
